  • Our team aim to provide comprehensive best practice wound care to optimize wound healing. Wound management can include:

    • Measurement and documentation of the wound characteristics

    • Cleaning of the wound

    • Debridement (removal) of any dead tissue

    • Selection and application of wound dressing

    • Application of compression if necessary

    • Education to patients, caregivers and/or family members regarding wound care and dressing changes

  • At Tau Oranga, we support early detection and treatment of skin concerns to protect your health and wellbeing.

    Our clinicians offer dermoscopy — a detailed skin examination using specialised magnification to assess moles, spots, and other pigmented lesions. This helps identify changes early and supports timely diagnosis of melanoma and other skin conditions.

    We provide:

    • Routine and annual skin checks (more frequent if needed)

    • Treatment options including liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy)

    • Minor skin surgery to remove concerning or symptomatic lesions

    • Referral to specialist services when further assessment or treatment is required

  • Ear Health Services

    At Tau Oranga, we are committed to protecting the hearing and ear health of our tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau — supporting flourishing futures through early assessment and quality care.

    Our ear health service includes:

    • Clinical ear assessment using an otoscope to visualise the ear canal and eardrum

    • Safe ear wax removal to improve comfort, hearing, and reduce infection risk

    • Referrals to audiology, ENT, or other specialist services when required

    Whether it’s for routine checks, concerns with hearing, recurrent ear infections, or wax build-up, our team provides culturally grounded care to keep ears healthy and hearing strong for the generations ahead.

  • At Tau Oranga, we offer Electrocardiograms (ECGs) to help assess heart rhythm, electrical activity, and overall cardiac function.
    An ECG is a safe, quick, and non-invasive test that can support diagnosis of:

    • Chest pain or palpitations

    • Irregular heartbeats

    • Shortness of breath

    • Cardiovascular risk assessment

    Our clinical team performs ECGs onsite, interprets results, and works alongside you and your whānau to inform next steps — including treatment planning or referral to specialist cardiac services if required.

  • Spirometry helps us understand how well your lungs are working and is commonly used for asthma, COPD, breathlessness, and chronic cough.

    At Tau Oranga we provide:

    • Safe, clinically supervised spirometry testing

    • Baseline lung function assessment

    • Monitoring of respiratory conditions over time

    • Results interpreted to guide treatment, medication adjustment, or referral if needed

  • At Tau Oranga, we work with you and your whānau to ensure medicines are safe, understood, and used in a way that supports your wellbeing.

    Our medication management service includes:

    • Reviewing current medicines to ensure they are right for your needs

    • Supporting safe use of long-term and newly prescribed medications

    • Checking for interactions, side effects, and effectiveness

    • Helping you understand what your medicines are for and how to take them

    • Working with pharmacies and specialists when treatment changes or extra support is needed

    Repeat Prescriptions

    We provide a repeat prescription service for enrolled patients who require regular medicines. This service ensures your ongoing health needs are met without unnecessary disruption.

    • Requests can be made online or through our reception team

    • A clinical review is completed to ensure your medicines remain safe and appropriate

    • In some cases, a consultation may be required before issuing a repeat prescription

    • Prescriptions are sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy

    Our goal is to make managing your medicines simple, safe, and supportive — helping you stay well and independent with guidance you can trust.

    Sometimes this means connecting you with additional services beyond our clinic.

    We can refer patients to:

    • Medical specialists

    • Allied health providers such as physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics, and occupational therapy

    • Social and community services including counselling, hauora support, rehabilitation, kaupapa Māori services, addiction support, and whānau wellbeing services

    How referrals work

    Most specialist or allied health services require a referral from a clinician. Your Tau Oranga Nurse Practitioner or Doctor will assess your needs and ensure you are linked with the most appropriate service.

    Funding and eligibility may vary depending on the type of service, your diagnosis, and whether publicly funded care is available.

    Our approach is compassionate, culturally grounded, and centred on dignity, comfort, and support.

    We aim to prevent and ease suffering through early identification, careful assessment, and holistic treatment of pain and other physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

    Our palliative care service:

    • Supports comfort by relieving pain and other distressing symptoms.

    • Honours life and recognises dying as a natural part of the journey.

    • Does not seek to hasten or delay death, but to uphold mana and wellbeing.

    • Integrates psychological, spiritual, cultural, and clinical care.

    • Helps people live as fully and meaningfully as possible.

    • Walks alongside whānau, offering guidance, presence, and support through illness, caregiving, and bereavement.

    • Uses a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach—bringing together clinical expertise, whānau needs, and cultural values.

    • Aims to enhance quality of life and may positively influence comfort, function, and overall experience.

    • Can be provided early in the course of an illness, alongside treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, or other therapies that support longer life and symptom management.

  • At Tau Oranga, we provide timely care for accidents, injuries, and acute illnesses, ensuring you and your whānau receive prompt, safe, and effective treatment when it matters most.

    Our services include:

    • Assessment and treatment of minor injuries such as cuts, sprains, burns, and fractures

    • Management of acute illnesses including infections, fevers, and sudden health concerns

    • Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) support for injuries covered under ACC

    • Onsite care and coordination, with referrals to hospital or specialist services if required
